The Drought Tolerant series deals with the subject of climate changes and drought and how those changes force us to see and respond differently to the idea of beauty ; how we are forced to seek out beauty in landscapes where beauty has been violently transformed and no longer exists; where charred remains in a land sterilized and barren offer an unfamiliar new vista. The loss runs deep. Along with the loss of habitats and vistas goes the loss of many of our own origin stories told through folktales and myth. Stories that once rooted human identity in the rhythms of the natural world. These sculptures represent fragments of a new reality and mementos of a beauty no longer present in the landscape.
